
‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ star Jen Shah said she’s been worried about the case
Stuart Smith — the assistant to “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star said Jen Shah — has changed his plea in the alleged nationwide fraud scheme, per Fox News.
- Smith said he will now plead guilty in the case.
- His sentencing is set for March 3 after he was released on bail this week, according to Fox News.
- “I knowingly and intentionally discussed and engaged with other individuals to develop a plan or operation to obtain money by false representation by offering and inducing individuals, many of whom were over 50 years of age or older, to provide money to entities that I and others were involved with,” Smith said in a statement to New York Judge Sidney H. Stein, per People magazine,
In March, Smith and Shah were arrested for their alleged role in a massive fraud and money laundering scheme, according to the Deseret News.
- The two both faced federal charges of “conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering in a purported long-running telemarketing scam,” according to NBC New York.
Smith faces a maximum combined sentence of 70 years in prison for the three charges, Page Six reports.
