E.C.D. Automotive Design's latest project fuses the classic looks of a rare Land Rover Defender 110 Crew Cab with modern power. The company maintained the original rugged exterior of the Defender, performed an LS engine swap and added a dash of luxury in the cabin in the "Project Flinders" build.
"Project Flinders is a rare treasure and an incredible presence on the road. Since the D110 Crew Cab is a fairly unusual body style in the U.S., the sight of this vintage vehicle is sure to turn heads and get attention," said E.C.D. Co-Founder Scott Wallace. "Project Flinders' hand-crafted customizations make it a step above – because what can be rarer than a one-of-one dream vehicle restored just for you?"
The SUV is now powered by a 565 horsepower LS3 engine that is paired with six-speed transmission.
A fully upgraded E.C.D. Air Ride suspension system, FAST brakes and Borla Sport Dual Plus exhaust sit under the cabin.
The remade vintage Defender rides on 18-inch Kahn Design 1983 wheels wrapped in 18-inch BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires.
Project Flinders is painted British Racing Green with blacked out exterior accents including a classic style grill and bumper, which comes complete with a Warn winch and nudge bar. The build is rounded out with a full external roll cage with a roof rack and four LED front lights.
The inside of the cabin is fully upgraded with an Infinity KAPPA sound system, an Alpine infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four USB charging points, backup cameras and a backup sensor.
Project Flinders features heated and ventilated Recaro Orthoped front seats and a split-folding rear seat. Each seat is wrapped in Spinneybeck hand-tipped leather with a vertical diamond design.
That same leather is featured throughout the cabin — in the Defender's door cards, center console and dashboard.
The restored Defender maintained some classic touches with an NRG wooden steering wheel, vintage gauges and center clock.
E.C.D. often showcases its custom one-of-a-kind build but also works features a fleet of custom Defenders. Bespoke takes on Defenders from the firm start at $179,995.
