Taylor Swift’s 10-minute song “All Too Well” breaks record

Taylor Swift, singer and songwriter, knows how to handle a win with grace.

After her hit song “All Too Well” broke the record for the longest song to take the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, she gave props to the artist whose record she broke, per CNN.

Don McLean, the singer of the almost nine-minute song “American Pie,” held the record since 1972.

Swift sent a bouquet of flowers with a charming note addressed to McLean.

The 76-year-old-artist proudly shared Swift’s generosity on Instagram, posing with the bouquet of flowers with a big smile.

“What a class act!” McLean captioned the post. “Thank you Taylor Swift for the flowers and note.”

He even posted a picture of the note.

“Your music has been so important to me. Sending love, one writer of LONG SONGS to another,” the note said.

McLean broke the news to his fans in late November via his website.

  • “There is something to be said for a great song that has staying power,” says McLean. “American Pie’ remained on the top for 50 years and now Taylor Swift has unseated such a historic piece of artistry. Let’s face it, nobody ever wants to lose that #1 spot, but if I had to lose it to somebody, I sure am glad it was another great singer/songwriter such as Taylor.”
