UHP: Road rage driver shoots up car with baby inside

road rage incident late Sunday resulted in shots being fired at another vehicle with an infant inside, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

One man suffered minor injuries but the baby was not harmed.

The incident began just before midnight Sunday on state Route 201 near 3800 West in West Valley City. Two vehicles were headed east when both sideswiped each other, according to the UHP. A short time later, someone in a silver or white late ’90s model Jeep Cherokee fired multiple rounds at the victims' vehicle.

Troopers say a man, woman and infant girl were in the vehicle that was shot. Their car was hit multiple times by gunfire. The man who was driving was hit with shrapnel in the arm, according to the UHP. He was not seriously injured and did not seek treatment.

"One round struck the rear passenger side door where the infant was seated but remarkably the child was not injured," according to a UHP statement.

Anyone with information about the gunman or who may have witnessed the incident or saw the Jeep Cherokee is asked to call the Utah Highway Patrol at 801-887-3800.
