LOS ANGELES --
"What's Prince Edward Island?"

Apparently, the brainiac opponents on Wednesday's airing of "Jeopardy!" and its all-time champion host don't know.

The American TV quiz present's present long-running champ Amy Schneider selected a class inside the Double Jeopardy spherical entitled Native Nicknames.

With $2,000 up for grabs, the reply was "A Spud Islander is a resident of this Canadian province, recognized for its potatoes."

Then crickets, as neither Schneider, nor her two challengers may give you the query, which was "Prince Edward Island." Even host Ken Jennings appeared to confess not realizing the query as he relayed the right response.

Island potato farmers are already feeling the sting of a brief Canadian ban on exporting P.E.I. spuds to the U.S. because of the discovery of two instances of potato wart.

For the report, Schneider gained the day's match to stretch her successful streak to 36 exhibits, and added one other US$17,800 to her whole of $1,181,800.

This report by The Canadian Press was first printed Jan. 22, 2020.
