Six residents of a nursing house in japanese Spain died after a fireplace began by a defective energy strip broke out within the evening, authorities stated Wednesday.


One other 17 residents have been hospitalized, with three in severe situation, the regional chief of Valencia, Ximo Puig, stated.


Firefighters stated a complete of 70 residents have been evacuated from the nursing house within the municipality of Moncada, simply north of town of Valencia.


Firefighter chief Jose Basset informed Spanish information company EFE that the hearth seems to have began in a bed room on the second ground.


“There was a lot of folks asking for assist who have been trapped by the smoke” when firefighters arrived, he stated.


Spain's Civil Guard police pressure stated its preliminary investigation pointed to an influence strip because the supply of the hearth.
