Leonard Cohen's property has bought his music catalogue to Hipgnosis Tune Administration.

The corporate headed by Middleton, N.S. native Merck Mercuriadis introduced the deal on Saturday.

Hipgnosis acquired rights to all 278 songs and derivatives written by the Canadian singer-songwriter.

The corporate says it has songwriter's share of royalties for songs Cohen wrote up till the 12 months 2000, and songwriter's and writer's share of royalties for songs written between 2001 and till his demise in 2016.

Monetary phrases of the transaction weren't disclosed.

It is the newest in a spree of music rights acquisitions as firms hope to purchase music rights from profitable musicians and develop revenues in consequence.

This report by The Canadian Press was first revealed March 6, 2022.
