A person is going through prices after allegedly stealing a dinosaur claw valued at US$25,000 from a vendor at a gem present in Arizona, police mentioned.

Christopher Thomas, 39, is accused of swiping the claw from the showroom of vendor Eric Miller, who was in Tucson promoting fossils on the present on January 30, the Tucson Police Division mentioned.

Thomas then tried to promote the claw to a different vendor within the space on February 8, police mentioned. The seller acknowledged the claw and alerted Miller, police mentioned, noting the distributors have a "tight-knit neighborhood."

Thomas was detained and charged with trafficking in stolen property, Tucson police mentioned. CNN reached out to Thomas for remark.

The dinosaur claw was returned to Miller.

"This highlights the significance of distributors/neighbors speaking & working collectively," Tucson police mentioned in an electronic mail to CNN.
