WASHINGTON --
The USA continues to interact with Russia on reviving the Iran nuclear deal, a senior U.S. State Division official mentioned on Tuesday, saying Moscow could now grasp that Ukraine-related sanctions mustn't have an effect on the accord's implementation.
Washington wouldn't sanction Russian participation in nuclear tasks which are a part of the deal, formally referred to as the Joint Complete Plan of Motion (JCPOA), when it's totally applied, the official mentioned on situation of anonymity.
Russian International Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday mentioned U.S. recommendations that Moscow was blocking efforts to revive the Iran nuclear deal had been unfaithful, following talks together with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian in Moscow.
Lavrov mentioned Russia had obtained written U.S. assurances that sanctions towards Moscow over Ukraine wouldn't hinder cooperation inside the framework of the deal, which lifted sanctions on Tehran in return for curbs on its nuclear program.
"We proceed to interact with Russia on a return to full implementation of the JCPOA," the senior U.S. State Division official mentioned when requested about Lavrov's feedback. "We might in fact not sanction Russian participation in nuclear tasks which are a part of resuming full implementation of the JCPOA."
"We can not present assurances past that to Russia and don't have any touch upon (International Minister) Lavrov’s publicly reported remarks," the official added. "Maybe it's now clear to Moscow that, as we've got mentioned publicly, the brand new Russia-related sanctions are unrelated to the JCPOA and should have no affect on its implementation."
