Canada Publish plans to salute late blues legend Salome Bey with a brand new stamp.
The Crown company says it should reveal the stamp at an occasion in Toronto subsequent week, to be attended by Bey's two daughters - the singer SATE and efficiency artist tUkU.
The U.S.-born Bey, generally known as Canada's first woman of the blues, died in 2020 on the age of 86.
Earlier than shifting to Toronto in 1964, Bey toured the US, Europe and Canada as a part of the sibling act Andy & the Bey Sisters.
After settling in Canada, she performed the jazz membership circuit and have become a mainstay of the nation's music and theatre scenes.
She went on to nurture and educate up-and-coming Black artists, together with singer and actor Jackie Richardson and award-winning soul singer Divine Brown.
