Social media customers blasted the restaurant The Capital Grille after former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms stated she was allegedly turned away for sporting leggings.
Bottoms, who served as mayor from 2018 to 2022, tweeted in regards to the incident on the Perimeter Mall Friday afternoon.
"Odd that a restaurant in a mall parking zone turns away clients in 'mall' apparel," she tweeted. "Requested if I may sit within the bar space and was advised, 'No.'. Guidelines are the foundations, simply marvel if the lady who got here in instantly after me, who I didn't see come again out, was additionally denied service."

Social media customers criticized the restaurant for turning away Bottoms, including that they and others have been allowed to eat within the restaurant whereas sporting leggings and different informal clothes, regardless of the restaurant having a gown code banning "fitness center apparel" and sweatpants.
Some accused the restaurant of being selective of when it enforces the gown code.

"I've gone on a motorbike journey w my husband and children and determined to eat. We had been proper subsequent to the Capital Grille so I went in and requested if we may eat (we had been in sweats/exercise garments) and so they stated sure, after all. It isn't the leggings that is the problem right here," wrote Twitter person @legallynotpam.

Some recommended the incident might be an instance of racism.
"The way in which yall enjoying in these feedback. I actually have gone in capital grille with of us sporting leggings and jogging fits and NOBODY was turned away. She actually stated another person had leggins on and did not come out. Everyone knows it was as a result of she was black, selective af," tweeted person @verbosity99.
The restaurant explains its gown code coverage on its web site by stating: "For the consolation of all visitors and to higher ship on our promise of a refined environment, correct gown is required. Thanks for not sporting: fitness center apparel, sweatpants, tank tops, hats, clothes with offensive language or photographs, uncovered undergarments."
Some defended the restaurant for imposing the gown code, nevertheless. Carolyn Corridor Fisher, who serves as Georgia's first vice chair of the GOP, tweeted: "One doesn't go to the Capital Grille in leggings."

"I respect you, however the Capital Grille is a very nice restaurant with a gown code. Leggings are merely not applicable for some eating places," wrote @VeachChristi.
The previous mayor's tweet went viral Saturday morning, receiving greater than 2,500 feedback and inflicting the restaurant to pattern on Twitter.
Newsweek reached out to The Capital Grille and former Mayor Bottoms for remark.
