U.S. federal brokers and the Spanish Civil Guard on Monday seized a mega-yacht in Spain owned by Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg, who's carefully related to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The yacht, named Tango, is a 254-foot vessel valued at an estimated $120 million. The vessel was situated on the Marina Actual within the port of Palma de Mallorca and was carrying a Cook dinner Islands flag, in line with the Related Press.

Vekselberg has been sanctioned by the U.S. authorities and the U.Okay. however not the European Union. U.S. authorities are investigating him for allegedly falsifying paperwork to cover possession of the mega-yacht, potential tax fraud and cash laundering. All of his belongings within the U.S. are frozen.

Authorities had been seen happening and off the boat Monday morning. The joint operation involving the Spanish Civil Guard, the U.S. Homeland Safety Division and the FBI was carried out on the request of U.S. authorities, the Civil Guard mentioned, in line with tothe AP.

Vekselberg is head of the Renova Group, a Moscow-based conglomerate that encompasses metals, mining, tech and different belongings, in line with U.S. Treasury Division paperwork. He made his wealth by investing in oil industries and aluminum. The Renova Group holds the most important stake in Russia's greatest aluminum producer, United Co. Rusal, in line with the AP.
