A Russian checkpoint within the Kursk area close to the Ukrainian frontier was shelled on Friday, a regional official mentioned, within the newest signal that the conflict is spreading past Ukraine's borders.

Starovoyt mentioned on April 25 that two Ukrainian drones have been shot down within the area by Russian air protection methods.

"Immediately, at 04:15 Moscow time (0115 GMT), the groups of Russian air protection methods shot down two Ukrainian drones over the village of Borovskoye, Rylsky district," the governor wrote on the Telegram messaging app.

"There are not any casualties, accidents, or destruction. The scenario is totally underneath management," he added.

Blasts have been heard within the Russian metropolis of Kursk this week, with video posted on social media purportedly exhibiting the explosions.
