Alberta announces new $2M organ donation program


The province is hoping to enhance organ and tissue donation charges in Alberta with the introduction of a brand new $2 million program.


The Specialist in Finish-of-Life Care, Neuroprognostication and Donation (SEND) program, introduced on Monday, will see 22 physicians throughout the province coordinating organ donation and transplantation alternatives to extend donations and save extra lives.


"Their function is to extend consciousness, educate and seek the advice of with healthcare professionals in emergency departments and ICUs," stated Minister of Well being Jason Copping.
