A brand new forest hearth was reported Thursday afternoon in Chisholm Township close to Powassan.
The Ministry of Northern Improvement, Mines and Pure Assets despatched two water bombers. The hearth is situated between Wasing Highway and Maple Highway, close to the intersection with Bear Mountain Highway.
"Residents within the space of Trout Creek and Powassan could notice smoke close by as Hearth Rangers and aerial hearth suppression plane reply to North Bay 3, confirmed late this afternoon," Ontario Forest Fires tweeted Thursday.
"Water bombers and stomach tanking helicopters are at present dropping water on this hearth."
