Alberta cupboard minister Doug Schweitzer introduced Monday night he wouldn't search the United Conservative Get together's high job or run for re-election.
Whereas he was "humbled" to obtain help for a bid to turn into chief of the UCP, in a press release on Twitter, Schweitzer stated he wouldn't run for the place.
"I used to be honoured to be elected because the MLA for Calgary-Elbow," Schweitzer stated, including he would end his time period to make sure "continuity and stability."
Schweitzer led the late Jim Prentice's management marketing campaign and was later considered one of three finalists within the UCP's first management race in 2017, ending final behind Premier Jason Kenney and former Wildrose Get together chief Brian Jean.
After being elected in 2019, Schweitzer served as justice minister and have become the Minister of Jobs, Financial system, and Innovation after a cupboard shuffle in the summertime of 2020.
"After eight years (of presidency involvement), I'm trying ahead to spending extra time with my household," he added. "I couldn't have served our province so diligently with out their immense sacrifice and help."
Schweitzer stated his precedence was at all times "guaranteeing security and financial stability" for all Albertans and that the federal government's financial restoration plan helped diversify the province's financial system whereas reducing the unemployment charge to its lowest degree since 2015.
"Put merely, Alberta is again," Schweitzer stated.
"I'm immensely pleased with what we've completed collectively over these a few years," he added. "Within the years and many years to return, I'll proceed to meaningfully contribute to public life."
