Much of northeast under severe thunderstorm watch, hail possible

Extreme thunderstorms might develop Friday afternoon in communities throughout northeastern Ontario, Atmosphere Canada stated.

Underneath a extreme thunderstorm watch are Higher Sudbury, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Elliot Lake, Manitoulin Island, Kirkland Lake, Blind River, Temiskaming Shores, Temagami, West Nipissing, Killarney and Superior East.

"Thunderstorms are anticipated to develop this afternoon with growing potential for sturdy wind gusts and hail because the day progresses," Atmosphere Canada stated in a information launch.

"Massive hail can harm property and trigger harm. Robust wind gusts can toss free objects, harm weak buildings, break branches off timber and overturn giant automobiles."

The discharge warns that heavy downpours may cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

"Lightning kills and injures Canadians yearly," Atmosphere Canada stated. "Keep in mind, when thunder roars, go indoors!"

The Workplace of the Fireplace Marshal and Emergency Administration recommends that residents take cowl instantly if threatening climate approaches.
