N.S. man charged with murder in woman's death after turning himself in to RCMP


A 71-year-old man has been charged with homicide after a 72-year-old lady was killed in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley. 


Police say the lady was murdered at a house on Nice Avenue in Kingsport, N.S., on Saturday. A person went to the RCMP detachment in New Minas, N.S., to report the incident and switch himself in.


Police say the person was arrested and held in custody. The homicide was reported to the Kings District RCMP on Sunday.


Douglas Andrew Smith of Kingsport has been charged with second-degree homicide within the lady’s dying. He appeared in Kentville provincial courtroom on Monday.


The sufferer’s title has not been launched.


Southwest Nova RCMP Main Crime has taken over the investigation and police have executed search warrants on the residence on Nice Avenue, a resort in Kings County and a minivan.


Smith was remanded into custody and is due again in Kentville courtroom on June 2.
