The makers of Jif peanut butter are urging Canadians to examine their current purchases as they challenge a recall for some merchandise because of potential salmonella contamination.
The J.M. Smucker Co. issued a voluntary recall Saturday for plenty of peanut butter merchandise bought in Canada, together with creamy, mild and crunchy peanut butter merchandise.
The corporate, which is issuing the recall in cooperation with the Canadian Meals Inspection Company, says jars with lot codes 1274425 by 2140425 needs to be disposed of instantly.
The Canadian recall follows an American outbreak of salmonella affecting 14 individuals in 12 states that has been linked to Jif peanut butter.
Salmonella signs embrace fever, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting and in uncommon circumstances may cause arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis and urinary tract signs.
