'Youth' allegedly fleeing police in Prince George hit by car, IIO called in


B.C.'s police watchdog is investigating after a "youth" was critically injured after being hit by a automobile whereas allegedly working away from officers in Prince George.


On Saturday night time, round 10 p.m., Mounties have been patrolling the CN fairgrounds after they have been knowledgeable of an assault by safety workers, in response to a press release from the Prince George RCMP. 


"An officer approached the youth in reference to the assault investigation and indicated he was being detained. The youth fled on foot and was subsequently struck by a car," the assertion continues.


The youth, whose age was not supplied, was taken to the hospital. Whereas the preliminary assault allegation is being investigated by the Prince George RCMP, the IIO has been referred to as in to "decide whether or not accidents sustained have been because of police actions," the assertion says.
