New image offers clearer view of Chinatown bear spray suspect

Days after a senior was attacked with bear spray in Vancouver's Chinatown neighbourhood, police have launched a brand new picture that gives a clearer view of their suspect.

The sufferer was standing at a bus cease close to Pender and Columbia streets on Friday morning when a stranger approached, made racist feedback and sprayed him with bear spray, in keeping with police.

Authorities described the incident as "fully unprovoked."

Two suspect pictures had been shared with the general public over the weekend, and on Tuesday, the Vancouver Police Division launched a 3rd that reveals extra of the person's face.

"Officers have been canvassing Chinatown and the Downtown Eastside because the assault occurred, and earlier immediately obtained a photograph taken at Fundamental and Hastings moments earlier than the assault," Const. Tania Visintin stated in a information launch. "We’re releasing this new picture with hopes that somebody will acknowledge the suspect."

The suspect is described as being in his 30s and about six toes tall. On the morning of the incident, he was sporting a black jacket, black backpack, dark-coloured pants, a gray baseball cap and gray sneakers with purple trim and white soles.

Authorities beforehand stated they had been working to find out whether or not Friday's assault is expounded to offensive graffiti that appeared on the purple gates outdoors Dr. Solar Yat-Sen Classical Chinese language Backyard, not removed from the place the assault occurred.

The phrase "Shhh" was written in white paint, and police stated many locally interpreted it as backlash towards Chinatown residents who've spoken out about security considerations within the space.

Anybody with info on the suspect's identification is requested to name 911.
