Police make arrest after Kitchener man 'caught' by witnesses


Waterloo regional police have arrested a 48-year-old Kitchener man in connection to a stolen car investigation.


In a media launch, police mentioned officers responded to experiences of a stolen car within the space of Hoffman Avenue and Meinzinger Avenue in Kitchener round 7:15 a.m. on Saturday Could 28.


Const. André Johnson mentioned the sufferer of a Could 25 car theft was driving when he noticed his stolen car and noticed a person get into it. He then adopted him.


The suspect fled from the car on foot and was caught by witnesses within the space, police mentioned.


Officers arrived on the scene a short while later and likewise recovered a backpack the suspect dropped.


Contained in the backpack, police discovered medicine together with suspected ecstasy, methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl.


A 48-year-old Kitchener man has now been charged with:


  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000

  • 4 counts of possession for the aim of trafficking medicine

  • Operation whereas impaired by medicine

  • Harmful operation of a car

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon

  • Possession of a weapon opposite to a prohibition order

  • Drive whereas underneath suspension
