Sea-to-Sky transit workers vote to reject deal, special mediator appointed


The union representing transit staff on a months-long strike in B.C.'s Sea-to-Sky area says a particular mediator has been appointed after members voted to reject a tentative deal that had been advisable by their bargaining committee.


A press release from Unifor says the union and the employer, PW Transit, have agreed to work with veteran mediator Vince Prepared for as much as 10 days with the objective of reaching a settlement that may finish the strike that started on Jan. 29.


If a settlement can't be reached throughout that point, Unifor says Prepared would put together non-binding suggestions that members of Native 114 would vote on.
