A California man admitted to stalking and harassing a Canadian professional gamer.
Evan Baltierra, 29, of Trabuco Canyon, Calif., had been stalking the unidentified woman since they met in 2019, when she attended BlizzCon, an annual gaming convention held in Anaheim, Calif.
Baltierra asked if he could visit her in her hometown in Canada, but the woman repeatedly refused, insisting she had a boyfriend, KTLA reported.
The victim ended up blocking Baltierra on social media and removed him as a moderator from her streaming channel, according to the United States Department of Justice.
She filed a restraining order after Baltierra created hundreds of fake social media accounts to harass the woman, her boyfriend and family but that didn’t deter him and the harassment continued.
Baltierra posted her personal information online and shared links to her social media pages on porn sites.
As part of his plea, Baltierra admitted to hiring someone to Photoshop images of the victim’s face onto pornography, which he then shared online and with members of her family.
From January 2022 to March 2022, Baltierra sent threatening messages to her family including one message that read, “get a casket ready,” while a letter to her boyfriend’s parents stated that things were going to “end badly for her,” the Department of Justice said.
A suspicious package was also sent to the victim which contained condoms, according to DOJ officials.
Baltierra was arrested in May.
He pleaded guilty to stalking, and could face up to five years behind bars. His sentencing hearing is Oct. 20.
