Child hurt in Australian zipline fall

A child has suffered severe injuries after falling from a zipline at an Australian adventure park.

His fall of seven metres has left him with possible back and abdomen injuries.

The Daily Mail reported the nine-year-old was about 50 metres into the zipline course when he fell.

He was at the TreeTop Challenge in Woombye, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, with his family.

The park offers 12 ziplines ranging from three to 35 metres off the ground.

The attraction website describes it as the “highest, largest and most thrilling high ropes adventure park” in the country.

The child was taken by ambulance to Sunshine Coast University Hospital and is now in stable condition. He has not been named.

X-rays will determine whether he sustained any spinal injuries, but ambulance attendants reported that he was conscious and talking throughout.
