Man, boy arrested in carjacking and robbery spree

Toronto Police have arrested a man and a boy in a carjacking and a pharmacy robbery spree.

On Thursday, May 5, and Saturday, May 7, police were called to a robbery call in the Sheppard Ave., E. and Meadowvale Rd. in Toronto and to a robbery call in the Tannery St. and Queen St., S. area in Mississauga.

Police say in both cases three male suspects with disguises entered pharmacies and one pulled out a handgun and demand for cash and drugs were made.

After stealing a quantity of cash and narcotics they would flee the scene.

On Monday, May 9, police were called to a carjacking call in the Rexdale Blvd. and Islington Ave. area where a 46-year-old woman standing outside of her parked car was approached two male suspects wearing masks.

Police say one suspect had a gun and the pair took the woman’s keys and fled the area with her car.

After an investigation, police identified one of the suspects.

On Tuesday, May 10, police officers with the Integrated Guns and Gang Task Force were in the Finch Ave., W. and Kipling Ave. area and they identified the suspect driving a vehicle with two passengers.

Police tried to stop the vehicle but it was being driven in a dangerous manner and fled the area.

After this, police were able to identify the second suspect in the original robberies.

On Sunday, July 3, police located one of the suspects and took him into custody.

A 17-year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with three counts of robbery with firearm, three counts of disguise with intent, and two counts of conspiracy to commit indictable offence.

On Thursday, one suspect turned himself into police.

A male suspect – who is Black and in his 20s — remains unidentified.
