Man critically injured after being struck by car while on scooter

A man has life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle while on an electric scooter downtown on Friday.

Toronto Police were called to the area of University Ave. and Elm St. at 6:31 p.m.

Police say a 27-year-old man on a scooter was travelling east on Elm St. while a 55-year-old woman in a Mini Cooper car was travelling south on University Ave.

The woman in the car hit the man on the scooter and he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The female driver remained on scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Police are asking anyone with security or dash camera footage of the area or incident to contact police.
