Ottawa police hope a graphic video showing a brazen daylight shooting in the city’s east end can help find those responsible.
The shooting at 6:37 p.m. on June 22 occurred on Seguin Street near Florette Street, near the intersection of Montreal and Blair roads. The victim, a 34-year-old man, suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The video, which appears to be from a homeowner’s security camera, shows a man in a white T-shirt and dark shorts walking on the side the street when a dark coloured sedan passes him. The man then falls to the ground clutching his abdomen.
The video is contained in a tweet posted by Ottawa Police. (The date of the shooting in the Twitter post was incorrect; police later sent an advisory saying it was June 22.)
The car resembles an older model black Lexus Sedan, police said in a media release accompanying the video. The driver can be seen wearing a white shirt and a white surgical mask.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam or security video to contact the police guns and gangs unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 50505. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestoppers.ca.
