Game on! Or perhaps, it should be soup’s on.
For all the Wordle fans out there, there’s a new game in town.
Inspired by the puzzle phenomenon acquired earlier this year by the New York Times, Phoodle is the latest Wordle-like game – but only uses food-related words.
Cookbook author Julia Loria, the creator of word nerds’ new obsession, announced Phoodle’s launch earlier this week.
“I am delighted to launch PHOODLE, a new online daily word game for food lovers,” she wrote on Instagram. “Test your culinary expertise by guessing a food-related term, from ingredients to appliances to famous chefs and more!”
Loria already has some big-name fans, including Martha Stewart, who did her own unofficial promotion of the game.
“If you want a new word game to play, and who does not!, try https://Phoodle.net,” she wrote. “Lots of fun, especially if you love food!!!!!!”
Snoop Dogg’s best bud shared a screenshot of her game from Monday with her two guesses, “boeuf” and “crème” before she landed on the correct answer, “apple.”
Perhaps someone needs to tell Martha to never, ever give away the day’s answer.
“I’ve been captivated by puzzles since a young age, and my passion grew from simple word-search puzzles to more complex crossword puzzles,” Loria told Food & Wine.
“As the author of two cookbooks, I knew early on that a culinary puzzle was exactly what I wanted to create.”
She added: “Creating Phoodle was the ultimate puzzle challenge, and I’ve loved every minute of it.”
