Nanton, Alberta’s mayor says the Town of Nanton’s peace officer report “made her heart so happy” when she read it.
The number of tickets that Adam Reiter, the Town’s community peace officer, has issued in particular stood out to Jennifer Handley, Nanton’s mayor.
“He’s only been issuing tickets for about six weeks and 22 tickets issued,” said Handley during the July 18 meeting. “If you recall previously, we had about seven in a quarter (three months) or something like that.”
According to the ticket statistics for June, sixteen tickets were issued for speeding, two were issued for failing to produce insurance, one was issued for failing to produce a driver’s license, and three were issued for parking where prohibited. The gross value of the tickets was $4,156.
Handley said he appreciates that Reiter is not working 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, but is instead varying when he works.
“He doesn’t want to be predictable,” said the mayor.
