Boy, 17, accused of stabbing another teen to death in Downsview

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested for the deadly stabbing of another teen outside of a Downsview hookah lounge two weeks ago.

Toronto Police responded to a parking lot outside of the Cleopatra Hookah Lounge – near Dufferin St. and Finch Ave. W. – shortly after midnight on July 8 and found a man suffering from a fatal stab wound.

The city’s 36th murder victim of the year was later identified as Auptin Abedini-Senoubari, 18, of Richmond Hill.

A large group had been attending a party at the lounge that night when a fight erupted.

At the time, a witness told the Toronto Sun the victim was seen running for his life through the parking lot before he was stabbed.

Homicide investigators, with help from the Emergency Task Force, executed a search warrant at a Vaughan home on Saturday.

“A 17-year-old boy, of Vaughan, was arrested,” Homicide Det.-Sgt. Leslie Dunkley said in a statement released Saturday.

The boy, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is now charged with second-degree murder.

Anyone with information regarding this murder is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
