Female convicts sue over Indiana prison gang rape rampage

For two hours male prisoners at an Indiana jail went on a rape rampage during a “night of terror” in the women’s wing of the jail, a new lawsuit charges.

The male convicts gained access to the women prisoners when a jail guard allegedly sold a key for $1,000.

Now, 28 women are claiming they were repeatedly raped and attacked during a “night of terror.”

Former Clark County Sheriff’s Department corrections officer David Lowe and unnamed jail staff in Jeffersonville are being sued by the women in two separate lawsuits. Lowe also faces criminal charges.

The lawsuit claims the incident occurred on Oct. 24, 2021. The male convicts covered their faces during the rape frenzy.

Another lawsuit targets Sheriff Jamey Noel.

The Clark County Jail was previously featured in the A&E reality TV show 60 Days In.

According to cops, about 11:30 p.m. on the night of the gang attack, two men entered the women’s wing and threatened the female prisoners with death if they tried to get help. Multiple men then entered and the sick attack commenced.

A number of the terrified women did what they could to hide from the sadistic onslaught.

The civil lawsuit reads: “As a direct and proximate cause of the actions of Defendants, [the female inmates] suffered horrific physical and psychological injuries. Amazingly, even though there were surveillance cameras positioned in locations that showed the male detainees accessing the woman’s Pods.”

Guards retaliated by leaving lights on in the women’s dorm for the next 72 hours.

Lawyer Bart Batteau represents 20 of the women suing and he told the Daily Mail he believes footage of the incident exists. The sheriff’s office fingered rogue officer Lowe for the mayhem.

Most of the women have since been released.

“My belief is that there is video because there always is,” Batteau told the newspaper. “We have requested what we can but enough time hasn’t ran for them to have to provide it. We believe that evidence will be available.”

He added: “They were in a place of security, when male inmates barged in there for a number of hours, doing what they want including raping women, and nothing was done about it.”
