Lexus has announced details regarding its 2023 UX 250h compact hybrid SUV, with refreshed styling and new features, and prices ranging from $41,450 to $59,950 before freight and taxes.
Changes for this model year include new Elegance Special Edition and F Sport Design trims; a new Lexus Interface multimedia system; two-tone exteriors on F Sport models; and Lexus Safety System +2.5 standard on all trims, which includes all-speed adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure assist, lane-tracing assist, and emergency front braking with pedestrian and bicycle detection.
On regular trims, Iridium and Cloudburst Grey are added as exterior colour choices, along with new Palomino as one of three available interior colours. F Sport models come in six body colours, all with an Obsidian black roof.
The Lexus Interface multimedia system, now standard on all models, includes Drive Connect with cloud navigation, destination assist, and Intelligent Assistant that awakens with a “Hey, Lexus” command. The system also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two Bluetooth profiles, and touchscreen capability.
All models use a 2.0L four-cylinder engine with self-charging hybrid system that makes a combined 181 horsepower, mated to an automatic continuously-variable transmission (CVT). All trims include all-wheel-drive that uses a separate electric motor to power the rear wheels as needed. Seating is for five, and the cargo area includes a hidden storage area under the floor.
The entry UX 250h premium starts at $41,450, while the new-for-2023 Elegance Special Edition starts at $43,250 and includes unique 18-inch wheels, adaptive headlamps, and exclusive interior with mauve-and-black seats and grey-stitched steering wheel. The Luxury trim starts at $46,200.
The F Sport models start with the new-for-2023 F Sport Design at $43,100, along with the F Sport Series 1 at $44,850, and the F Sport Series 2 at $50,950. F Sport trims include bolstered sport seats, aluminum pedals, paddle shifters for manual mode, and Active Sound Control that pipes simulated engine sounds into a speaker behind the dash.
The UX receives the top five-star rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as well as a 2022 Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), missing the Top Safety Pick+ designation because its top-rated headlights aren’t standard on all trims in the U.S.
