A woman accused of orchestrating the murder of her millionaire husband and stepchildren three years ago was arrested by Mexican police.
Alleged killer stepmom Berenice Alanis was nabbed Wednesday at a hotel in Acapulco after a guest recognized her face from wanted posters and notified officials, according to Mexican news network Telediario.
Nicknamed the “Black Widow,” Alanis allegedly hired an assassin to murder her husband, Jacobo Quesada, 51, his son Jacobo Quesada Jr., 25, and daughter Patricia Quesada, 24, on April 5, 2019.
The bloodbath happened at the gym Quesada owned in Mexico City, where a gunman allegedly gunned down the trio in the office while Alaniswas working out at the facility, the El Pais reported.
She reportedly ordered the hit after she realized she was cut out from her husband’s will for having an affair with his son and a gym employee.
Though Alanis was arrested days after the murder, she was released due to an error made by the prosecutor’s office and fled.
Local media say she sold her late husband’s fleet of luxury vehicles following her release.
According to Telediario, Alanis met Quesada in 2003 when she worked as his housekeeper.
The two had an affair, which led to Quesada divorcing his then wife and marrying Alanis.
Their relationship reportedly soured after the millionaire found out Alanis had cheated on him and removed her from his will — a fortune worth $25 million.
Alanis is currently being detained at a women’s prison in Mexico City.
The alleged gunman still remains at large.
