Rambo Lambo: Off-road Huracán teased in official video

Images of a slightly jacked-up Huracán with all manner of off-road addenda have been circulating for nearly ten years, with a number of rich punters taking a Sawzall to their Lambo in search of YouTube views. Then, in 2019 – just before the pandemic ruined everything – the Italian marque itself rolled out the Sterrato concept car, a Huracán with almost 50 mm of extra ground clearance to pair with its chunky tires.

It seems Sant’Agata was serious about the idea, publishing today a video showing the thing in more detail.

In typical Italian style, no details were released other than what’s shown in the video, plus a tagline reading “Beyond the Concrete.”

The car shown in the film appears production-ready underneath its playful camouflage (which bears words like ‘brave’ and ‘unexpected’), retaining the ride height and meaty tires shown on last year’s concept. Ditto for the pair of driving lights which have sprouted from its front fascia.

Cementing opinion on what this vehicle is called, the name ‘Huracán Sterrato’ is plainly shown on the car’s rear license plate along with the typically patriotic Italian tricolore.

Zooming in on the photos to AARP levels tells us the tires underneath the tacked-on black fender flares of this vehicles are Bridgestone Duelers, generally described as an all-terrain hoop intended for trucks and SUVs. There are several lines of tires within the Dueler family.

Sterrato, if you’re wondering, is literally “dirt” in Italian. This puts an exclamation point on the fact that just about everything sounds better in that language — saying ci vediamo, for example, is a heckuva lot more suave than simply blurting out “bye.” [Would you still eat vermicelli after finding out it means “little worms”? —Ed.] Back in the automotive world, the Fiat Ritmo and Strada (“Rhythm” and “Street”) were as lovely to say as they were horrid to drive.

We can be assured the Sterrato will not be horrid to drive. Lamborghini has already said it plans on introducing a pair of new trims for the Huracán this year, and the Tecnica has already appeared. All signs point to this Sterrato being a tremendous second act.
