Several hurt after object thrown at vehicle outside Whitby high school

Police in Durham Region are looking for witnesses or dash-cam footage after several people were injured in a bizarre multi-vehicle chase that concluded on the property of a high school in Whitby.

Durham Regional Police say on Sunday, July 10 around 12:40 a.m., a single-vehicle crash happened on the property of Sinclair Secondary School, located at 380 Taunton Rd E.

Cops say five vehicles were pursuing a vehicle and an object was thrown at a vehicle and broke the front windshield, causing the driver to lose control and crash the vehicle.

The driver suffered serious injuries and was treated and released from hospital while the two passengers sustained minor injuries.

Cops say the drivers in the five vehicles were pursing the victim’s vehicle through Brooklin and Whitby around 12:30 a.m. when they entered the school property. That’s when one suspect exited the vehicle and threw the object through the victim’s windshield.

The five suspect vehicles are a silver Nissan Altima, a grey BMW sedan, a white SUV (unknown make or model), a black sedan (unknown make or model), and a crossover vehicle (unknown colour, make or model).
