Former NFL player Kevin Ware Jr. is accused of the grisly murder of his girlfriend and now officials allege he burned her body to get rid of the evidence.
More of the sickening details emerged in court documents as the former grid star was moved to Houston’s Harris County Jail where he is on ice awaiting trial in the slaying of Taylor Pomaski.
Pomaski, 29, was last seen at an April 25, 2021 party at the couple’s suburban home in Spring, Texas. Her remains weren’t found until last December in a rural area of Harris County.
Witnesses told detectives that the couple had been embroiled in a vicious fight when Pomaski was last seen.
Court documents filed late Wednesday also claim that Ware burned Pomaski’s body not long after allegedly beating and strangling her to death.
Ware is charged with murder and tampering with evidence — specifically the corpse — and faces up to life in prison if convicted.
Before being hit with the murder charges Ware was jailed in Montgomery County north of Houston on unrelated drugs and weapons charges. He had been busted in 2019 while allegedly carrying a loaded AK-47 with a chaser of a large amount of cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine.
Ware’s stint in the NFL almost 20 years ago didn’t amount to much. The tight-end had blink-and-you’ll-miss-it sojourns in Washington and San Francisco.
Last December, his lawyer, Coby DuBose told NBC he was shocked that Ware had been named as a person of interest in Pomaski’s death.
“That filing is the first time that it’s been suggested that he is a suspect,” DuBose said. “He’s been cooperative. He’s told the police everything that he knows and he’s led them through his house.”
