#NOTINTERESTED: Conor McGregor doesn’t want boxing rematch with Floyd Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather Jr. loves money. Heck, it’s his nickname.

But when it comes to high payday from an anticipated boxing rematch with UFC bad boy Conor McGregor, it seems Mayweather’s opponent isn’t interested.

Mayweather recently claimed that a rematch of their 2017 boxing match — which generated $600 million — was in the works for next year. In the first fight, Mayweather knocked out McGregor in the 10th round.

Responding to a post on Instagram on the proposed rematch, McGregor simply wrote: “#notinterested.”

In an interview with Sportsmail, Mayweather talked about an upcoming mixed martial arts fight against Mikuru Asakura, before having another exhibition boxing match in Dubai in November and “me and Conor McGregor in 2023.”

“We don’t know if it’s going to be an exhibition or a real fight. But there’s been talks of both. I would prefer an exhibition,” said Mayweather.

Mayweather’s fight with McGregor in Las Vegas in 2017 was the boxer’s last professional fight, ending his pro-career with an undefeated record of 50 wins.

In terms of money, the fight filled Mayweather’s bank account with US$280 million, while McGregor reportedly earned US$130 million.

McGregor is currently out of action after breaking his leg during UFC fight with Dustin Poirier last July. The former UFC champion told Sky Sports in May that his boxing career is far from over.

“Boxing is my first love in combat sports,” said McGregor. “I had such a great the last time I was out there … For sure I will grace the squared circle again in the future.”
