Plugged In Podcast: If you build it, they will charge

It’s great to be back in the podcast chair for another season of exploring the ever-evolving world of electrified mobility. In addition to a new season, we’ve got a new producer too. Adam Foster is a veteran videographer and was one of the early advocates for podcasts within the Postmedia family. I’m honoured to have him behind the board.

For the kickoff of Season 5, we’re tackling what is the most important aspect of the country’s growth in the adoption of electric vehicles. Charging infrastructure. A robust and reliable charging network is essential for the widespread adoption of electric vehicle ownership in Canada.

My guest has spent the last 15 years immersed in establishing and expanding the country’s charging infrastructure and is a bona fide expert in his field. Jeff Turner is the Director of Clean Mobility at Dunsky Energy + Climate Advisors, a Canadian firm that supports governments, utilities and other organizations in their efforts to accelerate the clean energy transition. The company recently produced a study on Canada’s charging infrastructure readiness for the federal government. Since 2007, Jeff has conducted extensive work on electrifying personal vehicles and fleets, and tackling key challenges related to charging infrastructure and grid capacity. Prior to joining Dunksy, Jeff worked at Powertech Labs, a subsidiary of BC Hydro, where he led EV charging infrastructure initiatives, supported EV adoption within corporate and government fleets, and contributed to the development of utility and government programs and policies.

On a personal note, I first met Jeff eight years ago when he invited me to be a keynote speaker at Electric Mobility Canada’s 2014 conference in Vancouver.
