In death, Queen Elizabeth will be reunited with her beloved husband, sister and parents.
According to the New York Post, the late monarch will be buried at Windsor Castle’s King George VI Memorial Chapel, where her father — King George VI — her mother, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother and her sister, Princess Margaret are all laid to rest.
The tiny chapel is within the large gothic St. George’s Chapel, which was built in the late 15th century by King Edward IV (and finished by King Henry VIII some 50 years later.)
Prince Phillip’s remains, still at the Royal Vault within St. George’s Chapel, will now be moved over to the King George VI Memorial Chapel to be reunited with his wife of 73 years.
The Royal Vault was built in the 19th century; during his brief stay there, Philip was in the company of Kings George III, George IV and William IV and 24 other royals.
The “Court Jeweller” tweeted pictures of the vault at the time of Prince Phillip’s death in 2021.
Queen Elizabeth’s burial will take place after the state funeral at Westminster Abbey.
