Toronto man faces first degree murder charges in death of woman, 23

An arrest has been made in the shooting death of 23-year-old Daniella Mallia, whose body was found dumped in an Downsview underground garage on Jane Street just north of the 401 on Aug. 18.

Dylon Dowman, 33, of Toronto has been arrested and charged with first degree murder after a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his capture on Aug. 21.

Dowman was previously described by police as an aspiring hip hop impresario with a distinctive tattoo on his left forearm that reads “Gutta Musik.”

On social media, Dowman — aka Mr. Dowman — describes himself as a Jamaican-born rapper-producer.

Mallia’s body was discovered after Toronto police responded to a medical call in the area around 1 p.m.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or at www.222tips.com.

Mallia’s death was Toronto’s 42nd homicide of the year.
