Blue Jays interim manager John Schneider either didn’t know he was on live television – or didn’t care.
Having already clinched a playoff berth a day earlier – on an off-day, by virtue of a Baltimore Orioles loss – the Jays decided to celebrate following their game against the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.
Just as the party was about to get started inside the locker room following Toronto’s 9-0 rout at Rogers Centre, Schneider let loose with an impromptu speech to his players.
“This is something you should never not celebrate. Congratulations to you all,” the skipper began.
And then came the foul language.
“You guys are f— incredible,” Schneider said. “And enjoy the s— out of this tonight.”
The potty-mouthed pep talk was captured for all viewers to see and hear. If that wasn’t enough, all-star closer Jordan Romano got in on the fun a minute or so later, dropping an F-bomb of his own during an interview.
No word on whether the Canadian Radio-television and Communications was as excited as the Jays.
