Brampton man charged with first-degree murder in 2021 fatal shooting

A Brampton man has been charged with first-degree murder after a fatal shooting last September.

Peel Police were called to a residence on Rushbrook Dr. on Sept. 22, 2021 around 4:45 p.m., where they found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds along with a second victim with non-life-threatening injuries.

Guryodh Khattra, a 26-year-old from Brampton, died of his injuries.

On Tuesday, Jerome Downey-Apple, 20, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Khattra. He was also charged with aggravated assault in relation to the second victim.

The accused is in custody serving time on unrelated charges.
