Hamilton Police have taken another firearm off the streets during a traffic stop.
On Thursday, just after 7 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop after seeing a vehicle with three occupants travelling the wrong way on Mary St.
During the stop, police allegedly learned that the driver was failing to comply with release conditions.
The driver was placed under arrested and occupants asked to exit the vehicle.
Police then allegedly noticed a handgun in the pocket of an occupant and the pair were arrested.
Saul Solano, 19, of Hamilton, was charged with prohibited firearm – loaded/unloaded, possession of prohibited weapon, and knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon.
Police also charged a male youth from Hamilton with one count of FTC release order.

“This is not the end,” police said in a release. “Hamilton Police will continue to engage with our community, police partners and share information in order to provide community safety.”
“The citizens of Hamilton need to continue to feel safe in their communities and as a community we need to stop gun violence. Public safety is a shared responsibility, in which both citizens and police have important roles.”
