Man arrested in elderly fraud investigation

Toronto police have made an arrest made in a fraud investigation where elderly people were targeted.

Police say a group of suspects contacted seniors on the telephone posing as relatives and lawyers and making fraudulent claims and would demand that money be sent to the suspects to cover legal costs.

On Monday, police in the area of Lower Simcoe St. and Queens Quay W. made an arrest.

Kevin Murenzi, 24, of Quebec has been charged with fraud over $5,000.
