Mopar, the performance parts division for Stellantis’ Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, and Jeep brands, released three concept sketches of the debuts it will reveal at the upcoming 2022 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas, which runs from November 1 to 4.
This year marks the 85th anniversary of Mopar, a brand originally birthed in 1937 as a line of antifreeze products, and Stellantis will celebrate by showing what appears to be some sort of electric Jeep; and two Ram trucks, one wearing some sort of strange cap over its bed.
What it will not be showing off is the final special edition “Last Call” Dodge Challenger or Charger it had planned to; supply-chain issues were blamed for what’s expected to be one supremely wild send-off of a muscle car to make its debut. Dodge has not set a new reveal date for that car.
Combined from the words “motor” and “parts,” Mopar has evolved from its origins in ’37 to “represent complete vehicle care and authentic performance for owners and enthusiasts worldwide,” according to a statement from Stellantis. It particularly made its mark in the 1960s during the muscle-car era, with a variety of performance parts to enhance speed.
Mopar’s 2021 SEMA concepts included a three-row Wrangler and a ’67 Kaiser ambulance. Also on hand was a Jeep Wrangler 4xe concept, a Ram 1500 TRX RexRunner concept, a Jeep Grand Cherokee L Breckenridge concept, and a Ram 1500 Outdoorsman concept.
Now, it’ll be bringing its full kit of services, showcasing a fleet of customized vehicles and hundreds of performance parts and accessories, along with aforementioned new and interesting concepts for this year. The 2022 SEMA show will kick off in its 15,345-square-foot space in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
