A Texas university women’s soccer coach has been tagged with a red card over a drunk driving bust and allegations she had sex with students.
After the DUI arrest, coach Carla Tejas begged players to bail her out of jail.
According to published reports, the 28-year-old University of Texas Permian Basin coach was arrested on Sept. 11 after a routine traffic stop. Cops say the coach slurred her words and was unsteady on her feet.
But following her arrest, the floodgates opened with players past and present complaining about Tejas by sending letters to the NCAA and her school administrators. They told local media they were afraid the university would “sweep her arrest under the rug.”

KMID reports that the freshman coach broke a slew of NCAA rules. Among the allegations against her:
— Kissing, making out and having sex with members of the men’s soccer team in public and providing booze to minors.
— Tejas also allegedly asked her players to help pay for her bail, and some did.
— She reentered a soccer match after refs had given her the boot, then communicated via a two-way radio.

Tejas is now on paid administrative leave.
“Our focus has always been and will always be unwavering support for student-athletes. Period. That doesn’t change now or ever. So I want to make that perfectly clear. Our support is clearly squarely on our student-athletes,” a school spokesman said.
Now, a slew of Tejas’ former players are also coming forward. One said that Tejas made her consider killing herself.
“She’s telling me everybody hates me and nobody wants me on the team and this had been after a few months of abuse from Carla,” former Belhaven University soccer player Nolyn Murphy said.
“That was the tipping point with a lot of other things that had gone on mainly from Carla and Kimberly Harrell that led to me attempting suicide that day.”
