Caledon driver with toddler in vehicle accused of impaired driving

A 44-year-old motorist was allegedly caught driving in Caledon with a young child in their vehicle despite their blood alcohol testing four times the legal limit.

Caledon OPP say they received many reports just before 6 a.m. on Wednesday about a vehicle on Ellwood Dr. E. — near Hwy. 50 and Queensgate Blvd. — operating without any headlights on, swerving, hitting curbs, and stopping in live lanes.

When officers located the vehicle they saw a four-year-old sleeping in a car seat.

After a breath sample was requested, the driver was subsequently arrested and charged with operation while impaired-alcohol and operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The driver was taken to the Caledon OPP’s Detachment for further breath testing and the child was picked up by the other parent.
