SHAMEFUL SUPPORT
I was stunned to see that 9% of the voters in the Nov. 20 Sun poll support FIFA’s choice of Qatar as the site of the current World Cup. Can they be unaware of the corruption and bribery involved, the reported deaths of thousands of virtual slave labourers building the infrastructure needed, the wildly inappropriate climate, the many laws and social mores repressing gays and women, and so much more? If they were unaware of these many, and well-publicized factors, they should not have voted in ignorance. If they are aware, then they should be ashamed.

(It’s a pretty low level of support, considering how many will watch the World Cup)
DOING MY PART
As I sit in my energy-saving-retrofitted house freezing my butt off because of outrageously high gas bills/carbon tax and near-record low temperatures, I feel good about myself, knowing that lowering my thermostat will surely save the planet and send a powerful message to China and India that will, no doubt, convince them to stop burning coal to produce energy. I am sure they are dismantling their coal-burning plants as we speak. Besides, living in comfort would be a selfish thing to do and would likely make me an enemy of the state. Who would want that? Ironically, the only thing that will fix this problem is some good old-fashioned — wait for it! — global warming.

A SKEWED VIEW OF EVENTS
Preceding Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s appearance at the Emergencies Act Inquiry were his most loyal, trusted inner-circle staffers, cabinet ministers and the director of CSIS changing his story. All presented their views over why Trudeau had to invoke the Act to deal with the Freedom Convoy protest. Minister Bill Blair testified people were “frightened,” Marco Mendicino that he could not remember RCMP Commissioner Lucki telling him that all normal police methods of dealing with the protest had been exhausted, and CSIS director Alain Vigneault — who previously said the Freedom Convoy posed no direct threat to national security — did a 180, saying he told Trudeau to invoke the Act. And whenever lawyers for the Freedom Convoy tried to out the truth, Judge Rouleau played interference. This has been a very costly “protect Trudeau inquiry.” Considering this was a direct attack on our hard-fought-for freedoms, Canadians deserved better than what we have witnessed at this farcical event!

GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN
I see Yuesheng Wang, the Chinese Hydro-Quebec employee arrested for allegedly sending trade secrets to China, is seeking bail. All I can say is If your name is Michael, and you’re in China right now, pack a quick bag and head to the closest international airport, like now.
