Collision, weather closes Hwy. 144 from Timmins to Sudbury

A motor vehicle collision has closed Highway 144, the roadway that runs between Sudbury and Timmins.

Police said the closure extends from Highway 101 to Marquette Lake, just north of Halfway Lake Provincial Park. And because of weather conditions, the roadway is closed from Dowling in Greater Sudbury to Timmins.

“Keep in mind a driver may face a $110 fine and three demerit points for traveling on a closed highway,” Ontario Provincial Police tweet Thursday evening.
